The Complexity of Approximately Counting Retractions to Square-free Graphs

چکیده

A retraction is a homomorphism from graph G to an induced subgraph H of that the identity on . In long line research, retractions have been studied under various algorithmic settings. Recently, problem approximately counting was considered. We give complete trichotomy for complexity all square-free graphs (graphs do not contain cycle length 4). It turns out there rich and interesting class which this in #BIS. As generalise homomorphisms, our easiness results extend important homomorphisms. By giving new #BIS-easiness results, we now settle homomorphisms whole non-trivial were previously unresolved.

The Complexity of Approximately Counting Stable Matchings

We investigate the complexity of approximately counting stable matchings in the k-attribute model, where the preference lists are determined by dot products of “preference vectors” with “attribute vectors”, or by Euclidean distances between “preference points“ and “attribute points”. Irving and Leather [16] proved that counting the number of stable matchings in the general case is #P -complete....

Counting Square-Free Numbers

The main topic of this contribution is the problem of counting square-free numbers not exceeding n. Before this work we were able to do it in time Õ( √ n). Here, the algorithm with time complexity Õ(n) and with memory complexity Õ(n) is presented. Additionally, a parallel version is shown, which achieves full scalability. As of now the highest computed value was for n = 10. Using our implementa...

Approximately Counting Embeddings into Random Graphs

Let H be a graph, and let CH(G) be the number of (subgraph isomorphic) copies of H contained in a graph G. We investigate the fundamental problem of estimating CH(G). Previous results cover only a few specific instances of this general problem, for example, the case when H has degree at most one (monomer-dimer problem). In this paper, we present the first general subcase of the subgraph isomorp...

Approximately Counting Perfect Matchings in General Graphs

So far only one approximation algorithm for the number of perfect matchings in general graphs is known. This algorithm of Chien [2] is based on determinants. We present a much simpler algorithm together with some of its variants. One of them has an excellent performance for random graphs, another one might be a candidate for a good worst case performance. We also present an experimental analysi...

The Complexity of Approximately Counting Stable Roommate Assignments

We investigate the complexity of approximately counting stable roommate assignments in two models: (i) the k-attribute model, in which the preference lists are determined by dot products of “preference vectors” with “attribute vectors” and (ii) the k-Euclidean model, in which the preference lists are determined by the closeness of the “positions” of the people to their “preferred positions”. Ex...
